Seller of winning Powerball ticket awarded $1 million (includes video story)

Joe Chahayed, owner of Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, California, is now one million dollars richer after selling the winning Powerball ticket at his shop.

The prize for whoever comes forward to claim the ticket is a record-breaking jackpot of $2.4 billion. Since Chahayed sold the ticket at his shop, the California Lottery awarded him with a $1 million check.

Chahayed moved to the United States with his wife, two kids and $14,000 to his name. He built the shop from the ground up and describes his experience in America as, “all what I do, I work hard, 7 days a week, I raised my kids, graduated from college and bought a house, and I bought a business all because I work hard and become an honest man.”
