Deering Estate

The Deering Estate was the home and creation of Charles Deering, a Chicago industrialist of the early 1920s. Now a historical Miami site, the land and it’s houses are open to the public. It is located along the coast of South Dade, beautifully situated along Biscayne Bay. Hundreds of acres of forest are available for hiking. Included in this land is a Native Tequesta burial mound and a fossil site (both viewable by tour only). General admission is $22 for adults with kids costing $7 (three and under are free).

Wynwood is a neighborhood located in Miami, just south of midtown. It’s a young and colorful area, full of converted warehouses and businesses covered in murals from various artists, a lot from Miami themselves. It is a great place to spend the day with the family, walking and taking in the art and culture. It houses a variety of museums and galleries, the most notable being Wynwood Walls, an “outdoor museum that has brought the world’s greatest artists working in the graffiti and street art genre to Miami”. Along with many highly rated restaurants in the area, such as The Taco Stand, one of the best taco spots in Miami. Spend the day enjoying art and eating great food with the family.

Hollywood boasts one of many beaches available to all South Florida natives and visitors. Like many beaches in the area, its beautiful white sand and blue waters lure guests in. Unique to Hollywood Beach is its broadwalk. Lined with restaurants and shops, it’s 2.5 miles of additional fun in the sun. The promenade is perfect for biking or skating along the beach. Quieter than some of the other beaches nearby (Miami/South Beach), it’s a great place for the whole family.

Opening its doors to the public on May 8th, 2017 following a relocation from its original Coconut Grove location, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science offers several educational and entertaining exhibitions for the entire family to enjoy. Some of the museum’s most popular attractions include its 250-seat planetarium and the 500,000-gallon aquarium that allows guests to view different species of fish, rays, and sharks as well as species found right here in South Florida across three levels. The museum also offers families insightful education on different scientific areas such as flight, our solar system, and different sources of energy.
Whatever the reason may be for a visit, there is always something for each member of the family to enjoy. Admission for adults costs $29.95 per person while admission for children ages 4-11 costs $24.95 per person.
