The United States surpasses 40 million COVID-19 cases (includes video story)

The United States surpassed 40 million total cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Many hospitals have a shortage of I.C.U beds, as both children and adults have been severely affected by the virus.

Dr. Anthony Fauci says vaccinations and masks will ramp down cases. States like Florida and Georgia are in critical situations because of low vaccination rates among some groups.

“The emergency department is full, and the hospital is full,” said  Dr. James Black, medical director of emergency service at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany Georgia. “We’re unable to place many patients.”
