Ted Lasso cast visits the White House (includes video story)

The White House on Monday hosted the cast and crew of the Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso,” including star Jason Sudeikis, to discuss mental health issues — a key topic of the hit show.

“It is an honor to have Coach Lasso here with us today,” said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

Sudeikis, who plays Lasso, took to the podium to brief reporters on the importance of destigmatizing mental health issues and helping those who are struggling in silence. In the press briefing, he encouraged people to seek help from a professional or a loved one.

“No matter who you are, no matter where you live, no matter who you voted for, we all probably, I assume we all know someone who has been or had been ourselves that’s struggled, that’s felt isolated, that’s felt anxious, or alone,” said the actor.

The actors also met with the president and first lady to discuss options and resources that can be available to all Americans to improve the national mental health crisis — an issue that Biden has repeatedly said is a priority on his “Unity Agenda.”

A video with details of their conversation will be released soon according to President Biden’s tweet.

Sudeikis will make appearances on media outlets this week, including a one-on-one with CNN’s Jake Tapper this Friday, to continue this conversation on promoting mental health and wellness.
