South Florida’s rising seas: A documentary

Global warming is raising the level of the earth’s oceans and seas. The impact is most urgently felt in places like South Florida.

“In Miami everyone can see this now,” says one sea captain. “You’re going to see water coming out of Biscayne Bay up the storm sewers and onto the streets until it’s about a foot deep. And that’s not fresh water. That’s saltwater. ”

Two journalism and media faculty at Florida International University, Kate MacMillin, and Juliet Pinto explore a South Florida community under threat of sea-level rise in this award-winning half-hour documentary.
