New Orleans’ last day of Mardi Gras is today, as tomorrow is the first day of Lent, and all parties stop. Over the weekend, the celebration kicked off with parades, music, floats, and pure excitement as visitors, locals, and families gathered on Bourbon Street.
People dressed in purple and crazy costumes were seen with purple, green, and gold beads celebrating Fat Tuesday.
A New Orleans reveler shared what she likes to see every year: “All the children, the bands, and all,” said Mary Muniz, a reveler. “We have it all.”
New Orleans wasn’t the only place that celebrated over the long holiday weekend as Lauder-Ale Brewery in Fort Lauderdale threw a Mardi Gras party with live music, food, jewelry and beer deals all night in honor of the celebration.
Visitors celebrated with fashionable outfits, masks, colorful umbrellas, and long beads while dancing to the performance of the Swamp Cats, who played New Orleans tunes all night.
A reveler named Maria Blake described her favorite parts of celebrating Mardi Gras as, “just dancing. I love to see people smile, be happy and have fun.”
