Anti-abortion senator candidate Herschel Walker backed by Rick Scott and Tom Cotton (includes video story)

Just days after accusations that staunchly anti-abortion rights candidate Herschel Walker paid for an abortion, Republican Senators Rick Scott and Tom Cotton announced their support for the former University of Georgia football star’s campaign yesterday.

“So, I was thinking for all the reasons that people ought to vote for Herschel Walker, and I came across a problem, there’s too many,” said Rick Scott, U.S. Senator and former Florida governor. “There’s way too many reasons that each one of you should vote for Herschel Walker and everybody in Georgia should, every single voter should.”

Sen. Raphael Warnock, a Democrat, has called out his opponent for his hypocrisy in supporting a national abortion ban with no exceptions.

“And apparently for my opponent that’s not enough. He wants to see a nationwide ban, no exceptions which includes rape, incest and the life of the mother,” said Warnock. “I think that’s extreme; I think it’s out of touch with the people of Georgia. And the people of Georgia have a real choice to make.”

With a 50-50 Senate, Republicans are prioritizing races in swing states like Georgia. The National Republican Senatorial Committee will be redirecting money to Walker’s campaign.

Walker is set to face off against Warnock for the first and only debate this Friday.
