Ryan Fitzmagic brings light to a Dolphins team despite the 31-21 loss (with audio story)

The Miami Dolphins lost 31-21 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but all the news wasn’t bad. The Fins were 17-point underdogs and only lost by 10. The scoreboard doesn’t tell the full story of this game.

To start the second half, the team drove all the way down inside the 10-yard line and ran a fake kick to gain a first down. It looked as if they would drive in for another touchdown to make it 21-9, but alas, Ryan Fitzpatrick threw an interception while forcing the ball to Isaiah Ford. The Bills went on to run a 98-yard drive to and a two-point conversion to take the lead, 17-14. It spiraled down from there, but Fitzmagic made it interesting, bringing the his team within 3 at the end. Then came the onside kick situation. Not a single onside kick had been recovered this season, and Micah Hyde of the Bills made sure the Dolphins weren’t the first. In fact, Hyde ran the onside kick for a touchdown and sealed the deal for the Bills.

So why was this not doom and gloom? Why should you not tease your beloved Dolphins team for finding another way to lose? Simply put, this Dolphins team is developing its youth, and Fitzmagic needs to continue starting for this. Josh Rosen has been nicknamed the “The Chosen One” by some Dolphins fans. The fun and games stopped when he showed he couldn’t be the guy for the Dolphins.

Today, with Fitzmagic at the helm, we saw development. Preston Williams looked excellent once again (minus the fumble), and Mike Gesicki was all over the field. The receivers played well, Mark Walton was producing for the second straight week on the ground, and even the offensive line improved. Fitzpatrick might not be the most talented quarterback in the game, but he has the Dolphins offense playing hard.

Then comes the coaching.  The staff, which is sticking around according to the Miami Herald, called a great game. Chad O’Shea did a fantastic job, Brian Flores and his defense were on fire, and the most important part? The team believed. This team fights on every single play. This is something we haven’t seen since Dan Campbell was the interim head coach. This staff deserves a stamp of approval from the fans. When the talent is there, they will produce.

Speaking of talent, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a high-ankle sprain after a concerning tackle on Saturday night’s game against the University of Tennessee, said Bama head coach Nick Saban. This is something to keep an eye on if you are all in for Tua. He suffered an ankle injury last season as well, and with an MRI still pending, this injury could be more.
