President Joe Biden traveled the states impacted by the 9/11 attack (Includes video story)

This morning, President Biden is back at the White House after weekend stops in New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. He visited all three crash sites from the terrorist attack 20 years ago.

On Saturday, President Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, the Obamas, Clintons and hundreds of people attended the 9/11 Memorial event in New York’s World Trade Center. The President, along with former President George W. Bush, commemorated the occasion.

“At a time when nativism could have stirred hatred and violence against people perceived as outsiders, I saw Americans reaffirmed their welcome to immigrants and refugees,” Bush said. “That is the nation I know,” stated Bush. He also shared and solemnly recalled the unity he witnessed in the days after the attacks with the division that exists in the nation today.

In New York City, nearly 3,000 names were read aloud–accompanied by six moments of silence. Troops made an entrance honoring the American flag. President Biden stated how difficult it was to visit the sites.

“These memorials are really important but they’re also incredibly difficult for the people that are affected by them because it brings back the moment they got the phone call, the instant they got the news. No matter how many years go by,” shared POTUS.

After departing New York City, President Biden also made a stop and paid his respects in Shanksville, Pennsylvania for the ceremony of Flight 93. Vice President Kamala Harris also honored the victims with a speech.

“What happened on flight 93 told us then, and it still tells us so much about the courage of those on board, who gave everything they possibly could about the resolve of the first responders who risked everything,” said Harris.

In their last and final stop in Arlington, Virginia, the President, FLOTUS and Vice President Kamala Harris concluded their visit by laying a wreath at the Pentagon.
