Panthers Protecting Panthers has saved lives from COVID-19 (includes video story)

In response to the pandemic, FIU created an organization called Panthers Protecting Panthers that focuses on the safety and health of all students and staff.

This organization helps develop guidelines and programs for integrating back into campus life. These include limiting the number of visitors and increasing the frequency of cleaning common and high-touch areas. The group also encourages frequent and proper hand-washing, physical distancing, staying home when sick and wearing face coverings while around others.

Additionally, Panthers Protecting Panthers created an app called P3 which allows faculty, staff and students to complete a safety screening questionnaire before coming onto campus. It is also used as a tool to educate and inform the FIU community on COVID-19. Information such as where to get testing and guidelines for repopulating can be found on the Panthers Protecting Panther website

Many students have struggled with remote learning and feel they have missed out on the experience of interacting with classmates and professors as well as getting to know the university better. As students return to campus, Panthers Protecting Panthers intends to keep everyone a little safer.
