Women’s NFT exhibit and auction gives funds to women’s rights charities (updated) (includes video story)

The South Florida community celebrated Art Week in a variety of exhibits and pop-ups. The innovation of this particular Wynwood exhibit drew large crowds all night long.

Presented by Amberfi and Expressions in Blackdove gallery, the Women’s Rights NFT Charity Event hosted the artwork of more than 15 women from all over the world to raise money for charities that work for women’s rights, contraception aid and healthcare services.

Artists were able to choose which charity to help. Polish artist Adriana Krawcewicz chose Abortion Without Borders due to abortion regulations in Poland.

“I’m quite sensitive to what’s going on politically there right now,” said Krawcewicz. “So I decided to support my community there.”

According to a report by Art Tactic from last year, 5 percent of NFT sales went to female artists and only 16 percent of NFT creators are women. The women at the event were looking to change that.

“I’ve never been a gallery that [has exhibited] all women, let alone all women that are in Web 3,” said Courtney Trethric. “I think right now we’re in a really pivotal place where women are starting to see that we do have a space here.”

You can explore the artwork in the metaverse gallery. The auction ends on Dec. 20 at 11:59 p.m.
