Despite a global pandemic, frigid temperatures and the area’s vulnerability to flooding from global warming, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava delivered an optimistic state-of-the-county address Monday at Greynolds Park.
“I address you today with gladness and hope to let you know that the state of our county is stronger than ever,” Levine Cava said.
The speech summed up the accomplishments and challenges the county has experienced during her first year in office. The mayor praised the county’s response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“Today, we lead the state in vaccination rate, well over the national average,” shared Levine Cava. “This result is more than a public health milestone; it is a true logistical feat.”
The mayor also highlighted the county’s economy while sharing her plans and goals for the upcoming year.
“We all want…more good-paying jobs, more housing that is affordable, more mobility,” she said. “For all the generations to come, we want a better, brighter future, and I can assure you we are well on our way.”
