FIU Panthers gather to watch the Nationals defeat the Marlins (includes video story)

Florida Internbational University students, staff and alumni filled up loanDepot park on Sunday for FIU day.

The Washington Nationals defeated the Miami Marlins by a score of 6-1, but still won the series, two games to one, The stadium was filled with over 13,000 fans.

“We go to all of the business and education alumni events,” said FIU alumnus Jorge Regalado. 

The event gave Panthers attendees exclusive FIU merch, Roary, FIU’s mascot, made an appearance at the stadium and took pictures with those at the game. 

Elena Key is a broadcast journalism student at FIU. She currently works at FIU's student newspaper, PantherNOW, as a staff writer. She works for both the News and Entertainment section. Alongside working in news, Elena aspires to be able to work in entertainment news in the future as a reporter and TV personality. She hopes to make an impact in the lives of others through journalism.
