On Feb. 14, 2018, 17 lives were lost, and many more were changed after Nikolas Cruz stormed Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School with a gun. He pleaded guilty to 17 counts of murder and attempted murder.

On Tuesday, the court was back in session in Fort Lauderdale Cruz’s trial. During a lengthy closing statement, the prosecution asked the jury to consider the death penalty.

Now the 12-person jury will deliberate the sentencing starting on Wednesday.
