Florida in a state of emergency ahead of Hurricane Ian (includes video story)

Floridians are bracing for Hurricane Ian as it rapidly intensifies while nearing western Cuba.

Although Ian’s exact path beyond Tuesday remains unclear, a state of emergency has been issued for all of Florida. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is activating members of the National Guard ahead of the storm.

DeSantis said, “We want everyone to ensure that there is emergency equipment there, hurricane shutters… battery-operated radios.”

Residents can never be too prepared, so experts recommend having one gallon of water per person for at least 3 days, and enough food to last 5 to 7 days.
