Family members gather to commemorate the Surfside condo collapse (includes video story)

Over a year ago on June 24, 2021, the Champlain Towers South apartment building in Surfside collapsed, leaving 9 people injured and 98 dead.

A ceremony was held this past Friday on the collapse site to commemorate the lives lost and the families that continue to suffer.

First lady Jill Biden paid her respects along with some of the family members of the victims.

“Life is not the same without you,” said Luis Bermudez, who lost his son, Luis Bermudez Jr. “But I can promise you that I will live the rest of it without fear and like it was my last day.”
