Forum for Inclusive Immigration Reform

October 12, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

A half-day event on FIU’s main campus will focus on the current realities of immigrants in South Florida and the possibility of reform.

“The major goal of this program is to provide context on what is happening in immigration, both nationwide and locally,” said Adonia Simpson, the director of Americans for Immigrant Justice., a Miami-based group. “The fight for immigration is really about keeping families together and remembering that we are a nation created by immigrants.”

Simpson will be speaking on a panel with Juan Gomez, the director of the Immigration and Human Rights clinic. The clinic is associated with the FIU College of Law.

“The government is no longer protecting the human rights of immigrants, contrary to the 14th Amendment,” he said.

The Forum for Inclusive Immigration Reform is scheduled for Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and is free to the public. To RSVP, please click here. For more information, pleases call 305-348-7266.
