Driver killed in Kendall car crash

A crash Tuesday morning in Kendall resulted in a death, police said.

The collision happened at around 9 a.m. just outside of the Promenade apartment complex near the corner of SW 142 Avenue and SW 88th Street.

One of the cars ran a red light, hitting another sedan with such force that it crashed through the fencing of the apartment complex into the parking area, killing that car’s driver, said Dominick Dudley of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The driver of the car that ran the light was severely injured but is expected to recover, he said.

Police closed off the section of the road and apartment complex where the accident occurred. It reopened at approximately 1:30 p.m.

Brothers Adrian and Christian Perez, both residents of Promenade, said the crash sounded like a bomb had gone off.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
