DeSantis’ proposal to end DEI funding worries South Florida universities (includes video story)

Florida Gov. Ron Desantis recently announced his plans to end all funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in Florida universities, initiatives that are designed to help minority students succeed in college while creating a more inclusive environment.

DeSantis announced on January 31 that the state of Florida was going to eliminate DEI and CRT programs leaving them to “wither on the vine.”

Thirty colleges around Florida, including Florida International University, are home to multiple DEI programs for students.

Eric Scarfee, assistant professor of philosophy and vice president of the United Faculty of Florida, explained how schools across the state of Florida “are greatly concerned with what is going to actually happen here.”
