Cyclists honor the dead, and seek a solution on Rickenbacker Causeway (includes video story)

Cyclists came to Crandon Park Marina last night for the Ride of Silence. The aim was to raise awareness about cycling safety and honor riders killed or injured in crashes.

It was held just a few days after the two cyclists were killed on the Rickenbacker Causeway by a man driving a jeep, Miami-Dade Commissioner Raquel Regalado made remarks about the idea of barriers along the bike lanes.

“We are going to be having a meeting with the stakeholders, the folks that use the bike lines and we are gonna be having immediate barriers,” says Regalado.

Though South Florida politicians are seeking a fix to save lives, cyclists disagree about how it should be done.
