About the Washington, D.C., Bureau

From its location close to Capitol Hill, the White House, the Pentagon, and a vast network of federal agencies, the South Florida Media Network’s Washington, D.C., Bureau immerses students in political reporting and the media all part of a thorough introduction to the responsibility of the news industry as the “Fourth Estate.” Washington Bureau students spend a semester living in the nation’s capital, working alongside longtime Washington-based journalist Patricia Guadalupe, and file stories from both the offices of FIU in Washington, D.C., and a co-working space provided by our partner, Alley. The program is offered during fall, spring, and summer semesters. (Note: The bureau is closed for the 2020-21 school year and will return in 2021-22)
