The Vizcaya Village Farmers Market is a popular South Florida attraction during the weekends, but a free outdoor yoga class makes the community fall in love with the place even more.
Yoga allows people to connect with themselves, the community and nature.
The hour-long class hosted by the Urban Oasis Project is beginner-friendly and accommodates up to 50 people every Sunday at 10 a.m. It’s held in the gardens where food crops were cultivated back in the 1900s — inspiring them to organize the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market.
“The purpose of the yoga class is really to have a sense of community”, said Hilary Bone, a yoga class teacher who substitutes for Gabriella Bhatia, the regular instructor. “The farmer’s market on Sundays here at Vizcaya is incredible,” Bone added.
The organization offers free yoga classes, following the ancient Indian tradition in which the skill is shared with others. Attendees have the option to sign up for classes without having to pay a fee. Donations are also welcomed.
