Halloween is fast approaching and people have been wondering: Is it canceled for 2020, or is about to be the greatest day ever as phase 3 of reopening takes place in Miami-Dade County?
Casa De Los Trucos in Little Havana (43 SW 8th St, 305-858-5029) has been around for decades, and no one knows Halloween better than Jorge Torres, whose family owns the business.
Due to all the restrictions, Torres had to adjust costume orders at the beginning of the year. While SFMN interviewed him recently at the store, customers came into the store for purchases and stopped outside for pickup.
Many things have changed for this family-operated retail business that is open all year round with all kinds of fun Halloween decorations, costumes, masks and novelty items. The space is small, so social distancing isn’t easy. They have done their best with markers on the floor, providing sanitizer as you walk in and limiting the number of costumes you can try on. There are also restrictions on which masks can be tested.
Torres believes people will actually be more excited for this Halloween than any other.
“You are going to see people wanting to celebrate Halloween like never before because they’ve been stuck in the house,” Torres said.
