A look into the progress of all three FDA-approved vaccines

COVID-19 vaccines are becoming more available in Florida. With President Joe Biden’s plan to make vaccines accessible to everyone by May, the delivery has started to surge.

One of the manufacturers, Pfizer, has shown its vaccine is 100% effective in a small clinical trial of 12 to 15-year-olds. In Florida, about 16% of the population is fully vaccinated.

Moderna is not only testing its vaccine on the same age demographic as Pfizer, but it has also started a clinical trial for a vaccine created to protect against the variant first identified in South Africa.

“As more people get vaccinated, there’s going to be a greater umbrella of protection over society,” said Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. “So when vaccination becomes available, get vaccinated.”

FIU’s Modesto Maidique Campus will also allow anyone 16 and older to get tested and vaccinated with an appointment.
