Walmart and others begin inoculating for COVID-19 (includes video story)

For months people have been struggling to find locations with available COVID-19 vaccine appointments and supply.

It just became a bit easier.

On Feb. 9 Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that Walmarts across the state would be giving out vaccines by the end of the week, as part of a new program.

“Today is a great day because we’re announcing the expansion of vaccine availability,” Ron DeSantis said. “As you might see that we’ll be expanding to Walmarts all across the state of Florida beginning at the end of this week.”

Two of those stores are in Miami-Dade. One is at 9300 NW 77th Ave. and another is in North Dade at 17650 NW Second Ave.

Inoculations are also available at places like Publix, Sam’s Club and Winn-Dixie.

At this time only seniors 65 and up can get the vaccine. To schedule an appointment or more information on Walmart’s program click on its corporate website or click on the county COVID vaccine site for more general information.
