Two pilots in a small plane crash-landed on the way to celebrate Taco Tuesday (includes video story)

Just how far would you travel to satisfy your cravings? For these two pilots, distance could not get in the way of their hunger.

Last week, Jose Ecarri and a fellow pilot were flying from Tamiami Airport in South Miami Dade to Arcadia — north of Cape Coral — to celebrate “Taco Tuesday,” when the engine of their small plane failed. The pilots were forced to make a crash-landing in Collier County just off I-75. Fortunately, the friends were not injured by the emergency landing.

The men were headed to “Taqueria Queretar,” a food truck located in Arcadia Airport. The owners, Yolanda Hernandez and her son Jose, say many of their customers fly in just to get a taste of their tacos.

In 2020 the airport was named the GA Airport of the Year, which some customers believe may be because of the tacos.

The owners say they’re still trying to get in touch with the two pilots to treat them to their next Taco Tuesday.
