Miami Film Festival’s hybrid screenings expand accessibility to audiences

The Miami Film Festival’s 38th edition wrapped up its hybrid presentations this past weekend. Despite the pandemic, the festival team made this transition almost seamlessly by holding in-person and virtual festivals.

After a year of virtual lockdown, staff members were pleased to give the audience a chance to participate in pre-covid activities and contribute to the festival’s big comeback.

This year’s festival, of course, had imitations, but it was more accessible to the rest of the country than others.

“There’s so many benefits to it,” said co-programmer Lauren Cohen. “Anyone in the U.S. can watch the Miami Film Festival movies and not just people who are in Miami. It’s incredible that we can expand our audience by so much.”
