Governor Ron DeSantis responds to Biden’s winter COVID-19 plan (includes video story)

In Washington D.C, President Joe Biden unveiled his winter plan to fight COVID-19. Air travelers entering the United States must now test negative for COVID at least a day before departure regardless of vaccination status or nationality. The Biden administration is also extending a mask requirement for domestic travel through the middle of March.

The announcement comes just one day after officials confirmed the first recorded case of the omicron variant in the United States, in California.

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSanctis responded on Thursday, stating he was not going to take any new measures against the spread of the omicron variant in Florida.

“What President Biden is doing, by trying to impose more restrictions, I just don’t get it,” stated Gov. DeSantis. “I think it will cause problems.”

Biden said that omicron presents a challenge but that this moment could unite the nation with a common purpose.

“I know Covid-19 has been very divisive in this country. It has become a political issue, which is a sad, sad commentary. It shouldn’t be, but it has been,” shared president Biden. “This is a moment when we can do what we haven’t been able to do enough of through this whole pandemic, get the nation to come together, unite the nation in a common purpose.”
