FIU Panthers soccer prepares for playoffs (includes video story)

FIU men’s soccer team is set to host the second-round matchup of the NCAA Division 1 tournament this Sunday.

On Monday afternoon, the national selection committee announced that the number-13 seed Panthers will face off against Wake Forest University after a first-round bye.

The blue and gold claimed the Conference USA regular-season championship and finished the season 12-2-2. They have an undefeated record at home, which is one of the reasons they are pumped to be playing at FIU soccer stadium this Sunday.

“The fans are very important,” said head coach Kyle Russell. “We need everybody to be there.”

This will be the 11th time in program history that the Panthers play in the tournament.

The kickoff is at 6 p.m. at the FIU soccer stadium. Tickets are for sale here.
