Alice Wainwright Park Volunteer Clean Up

The Parks and Recreation department of the City of Miami is hosting a volunteer event on Saturday at 9 am to clean up debris from hardwood hammock forests in Alice Wainwright Park. These forests are found only on higher elevations in the southern preserve regions of Florida and along its Atlantic coast. The event will allow locals to clean debris and remove invasive plants from the forest. Registration will begin 15 minutes before the scheduled workday and an instructional orientation will be held. The department recommends volunteers to wear hats, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts. Listed recommended items to carry include a refillable water bottle, sunblock, and insect repellent. Closed-toe shoes are required.
