Delivery driver rescues wandering toddler from busy boulevard (includes video story)

Food delivery driver Gerson Tavares spotted a 2-year-old boy running down a busy Burbank Boulevard, Los Angeles, late at night.

The boy was wearing diapers and holding a tablet. Tavares believed he walked into traffic because he was completely focused on a game.

Tavares parked his car, bolted towards the boy and waved his arms in the air in an attempt to stop traffic.

“When the drivers stopped… I grabbed the boy in my arms,” shared Tavares.

Tavares’ son, Igor, couldn’t contain his pride in his dad, “You were the right guy at the right place, doing the right thing,” stated Igor. “And for me, what makes me more proud of him was how quick he acted… My hero. I love this guy.”

There is no information as to why the boy was out on the road alone.

The Los Angeles Police Department located the toddler’s guardians and returned him to his home. However, the Department of Children and Family Services will investigate and determine if further action is needed.
