Cherry Blossom Festival attracts millions to Washington, DC (includes video story)

The nation’s capital surrounds itself with pink and white flowers for a special event that happens only once a year. The National Cherry Blossom Festival is the 110th anniversary of the gift of the trees from Japan as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. The Welcome Arena at the Tidal Basin is one of the many events that the festival has to offer.

The location offers a view perfect for those who love to take pictures and it frames many of the iconic Washington monuments like the Washington Memorial, Jefferson’s Memorial, and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

Residents of the area and all over the world come to enjoy food and fun during the Cherry Blossom Festival and enjoy activities for people of all ages. The festival is back this year after being canceled two years in a row due to Covid. The organizers expect to welcome nearly two million people to the nation’s capital.
