A bride wants those looking for homes to rent to be aware of a potential scam.
Alisha Seagle, an Alabama native, booked a Florida beach house rental months in advance, only for the booking to be cancelled so that the renter could have a bigger payout, she believes.
Seagle says she and her bridesmaids rented a home listed on Vrbo at the height of the pandemic when booking prices were cheaper.
Days before her booked date, owners cancelled on her, claiming they were moving into the residence.
Seagle says she saw complaints similar to hers on the Vrbo website, then realized that people renting their homes are cancelling old bookings to charge more.
She was forced to reserve another home for $1,000 more than the house where she had planned to stay.
