Actor Alec Baldwin accidentally kills a one crew member and wounds another on ‘Rust’ set (includes video story)

One film crew member died and another was injured after actor Alec Baldwin fired what he thought was a prop gun on the set of the movie “Rust” in New Mexico.

The cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, was killed and the director, Joel Souza, was injured around 1:50 p.m. on the movie set.

The shooting happened in the middle of a scene that was being rehearsed. The Sheriff’s office was investigating and interviewing people on the set to determine how the two had been shot.

“We’re trying to determine right now how and what type of projectile was used in the firearm,” said Juan Rios, a spokesman for the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.
