Katey Kelly recently walked into her Fort Lauderdale home to find an unexpected and cold-blooded surprise. The 26-year-old quickly determined she was dealing with a very large iguana.
“I came home, and my back door was open, my sliding glass door, and I thought the dogs had just opened the door ’cause they’ll open it up if it’s unlocked, and I didn’t think anything of it,” Kelly said. “I closed the door and sat down to watch TV, and I heard all this noise coming from the other room that just didn’t stop.”
Kelly immediately called animal handler Alex Link.
“When it’s raining or it gets chilly out, anything from iguanas, alligators — even mammals — are going to find somewhere they can find shelter,” Link says.
In the midst of the chaos, Kelly recorded the iguana.
“Tell me you live in Florida without telling me you live in Florida. I’ll go first,” Katey Kelly said in her TikTok video.
Florida is known for wild and unexpected guests in people’s homes. But what Kelly did not see coming was going viral on TikTok after sharing her video. The video now has over 349,000 likes and nearly 2 million views.
Kelly said she encounters iguanas quite often in the wild, but never expected one to invade her home.
